ROSÉ’s “new trick”: vocal recording at IMRSV

Vocals for ROSÉ’s “new trick” were recorded at IMRSV Music, with Basma Jabbar credited as vocal recording engineer on the release.

Written by ROSÉ, Amy Allen and Andrew Wells, “new trick” sees ROSÉ moving into a more playful and upbeat sound following the more introspective material of her debut album rosie. The song came together shortly after the 2026 Met Gala in New York, with ROSÉ describing the writing session as a shift away from the sad songs she had previously been drawn to.

The accompanying music video was directed by Dave Meyers and filmed entirely on the iPhone 18 Pro as part of Apple’s Shot on iPhone campaign.

The track was produced by Andrew Wells and mixed by Serban Ghenea, with Bryce Bordone as assistant mixer. John Hanes handled the immersive mix, with mastering by Chris Gehringer.
