‘Run Away’ by Dirty Loops — drums recorded at IMRSV

The drums on Dirty Loops’ new single ‘Run Away’ were recorded at IMRSV Studios, by Willem Bleeker. To find the right sound for the song, experimentation was done with the snare drum, testing different swirls and moods to achieve the desired result. Additionally, a large drum set comprising six tom drums and a wide variety of cymbals was utilized.
Vintage microphones were used during the recording process to achieve a modern sound quality. Along with selecting the appropriate drum skins and tuning for the key of the song the snare drum was tuned deeper than usual to suit the sound of this particular song.
The Stockholm based band formed in 2008 consists of the members Jonah Nilsson, Henrik Linder and Aron Mellergård. They mix jazz, R&B, and electronic dance music-inflected pop, and released their debut album “Loopified” in 2014. ‘Run Away’ was released on the 8th of March.
